4 Hour Body Supplements

If you have read Tim Ferriss’ book The 4 Hour Body, you would have read about the powers of pAGG and how it is an effective alternative to harmful weight-loss stacks like ECA: Ephedrine (now banned in the US), Caffeine, Aspirin.  By popular demand, we compiled a list of all of the 4 Hour Body Supplements and what people are saying about them:

Our Favorite: pAGG Supplements by NewHealth Solutions

pAGG is the first supplement stack that Tim mentions in his book, it is described aptly in the title of the chapter “The 4 Horsemen of Fat-loss.”  Tim had some serious complications with his ECA experience (including sinus infections and adrenal gland conditions) that he aimed to formulate a de-caffeinated, non-invasive stack that he could feel good about putting into his body.  He conceptualized a stack of 13 pills per day.  1 x Policosanol, 4x Alpha Lipoic Acid, 4 x Aged Garlic, 4 x Green Tea Extract.  Tim designed this stack to help accelerate fat-loss and he reviews the fat-loss properties and research of each ingredient in the chapter.

NewHealth Solutions loved the idea of this stack so much, we created the pAGG Supplement System.   We took the number of pills per day from 13 to 4 without removing any ingredients from the stack – in fact we added Biotin to every dose.  People that have taken pAGG individually and in a stack like ours report the results are identical, but pAGG by NewHealth Solutions is both more convenient AND less expensive.  That is why it is our favorite of the group!

Cissus Quadrangularis

Tim Ferriss mentions  Cissus Quadrangularis, a medicinal plant of India in the chapter “Damage Control” of the 4-Hour Body.  This herbal extract is traditionally prescribed for joint repair but has been used recently to support weight management goals.  Tim reported beneficial effects and many others have as well.  Tread carefully with this relatively new and untested supplement.

Saigon Cinnamon

Our Favorite: Williams-Sonoma Saigon Cinnamon

Tim reviewed the effects of 3 different strands of Cinnamon and found Saigon to be the most effective in controling glucose levels in the blood (compared to Cassia cinnamon and Ceylon cinnamon).  According to Tim’s recommendations, you would want to consume 1 and a half teaspoons, no more, (about 2.8 grams) of cinnamon per day, sprinkled on the foods that make sense to do so.

We like to sprinkle it in our morning coffee or Yerba Mate

4 Hour Power

Just like the PAGG stack was conceptualized from the rapid fat loss chapter in the 4 Hour Body; 4 Hour Power developed a similar product derived from the book except it is based on the Geek to Freak, Rapid Muscle Gaining chapter.  For this description we will hear from Sal Greco… Creator of 4-Hour Power:

“As an ex-gym-rat, I spent LOTS of time in the gym for what I call… “Counter-intuitive results”. I spent so much time in the gym that my immune system lowered so I got sick more then I progressed in my lifts!  Then, when that Tim Ferriss gained 34 lbs of Muscle in only 4 weeks by ONLY working out a total of 4 Hours during his Geek to Freak experiment, I thought to myself, “this is a routine I could get into”. He was actually able to achieve such impressive results by resting MORE!!! Since he only spent 2 days of the week in the gym his results relied heavily on a high protein diet and an ornate supplement regimen designed to enhance the muscle repair process.  While PAGG came out I coincidentally was creating 4 Hour Power to help people looking for muscle mass save time in the gym by utilizing the principles laid out by Tim Ferriss in that impressive chapter!  The product contains every supplement Tim Ferriss used to go from Geek to Freak as prescribed on page 186.” – interview with Sal Greco on 10/12/2011

Creatine Monohydrate

As part of the Occam’s Prescriptions section of Occam’s Protocol I chapter, Creatine Monohydrate makes an appearance.  Small doses of 5-20 grams per day have been used by athletes (Mark McGuire) and body builders for many years now and has been shown to help drive more intense workouts.  Creatine is not recommended for people with preexisting kidney conditions.
